Practice Levels

The Aquarockets offer training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels. It is the goal of the Aquarockets to offer age specific training for all of our athletes geared towards challenging each individual and developing each individual to the best of THEIR abilities.

This year, tryouts will be held in March, June, July and August for the upcoming season.  Please check this Website for more information.

PRE TEAM – Ages 8 & Under – This group continues to teach all four competitive strokes. The criteria for entry are Starfish or Fish level swimmers, the ability to swim 25 yards of freestyle, backstroke, rudimentary breast and butterfly. The Pre Team group practices three times a week.

 

BLUE GROUP – Ages 8 & Under – The focus of this group is skill development of all 4 competitive strokes, starts and turns. Swimmers must be able to swim 50 yards of freestyle, 25 yards of backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly. Swimmers must try out and be selected for the team. This group participates in dual meets as well as invitational meet. The group practices 3-4 times a week. 

 

WHITE GROUP – Ages 9 – 12 – The focus of this group is skill development with an introduction to training discipline and racing strategies. Swimmers must try out and be selected for the team. They must be able to swim all four strokes legally with good form, with flip turns, starts as well as streamlines. White Group swimmers will participate in both dual meets and invitational meets, and are required to attend all Y Championship meets they have qualified for.  The White Group practices between 3-4 days a week (depending on meet schedule). 

 

RED GROUP – Ages 11 – 15 – The focus of this group is skill development, training discipline, and swimming varying competitive distances. Swimmers must try out and be selected for the team. Red Group swimmers will participate in both dual meets and invitational meets, and are required to attend all Y Championship meets they have qualified for. The Red Group practices between 4-5 days a week (depending on meet schedule). 

 

SENIOR 2 – Ages 12 – 15 – The focus of this group is on the continued development of correct strokes, skills and race strategies that will ready the swimmer to move on with their competitive goals. Swimmers in Senior 2 are expected but not required to commit to a year-round training regimen. They must attend all practices and planned competitions (some will require travel).  Swimmers must try out and be selected for the team. Senior 2 Group swimmers will participate in both dual meets and invitational meets, and are required to attend all Y Championship meets they have qualified for. The Senior 2 Group practices between 5-6 days a week (depending on the meet schedule).

 

SENIOR 1 – Ages 12 – 18 – This group is the top level of The Community YMCA, Red Bank Swim Team program. Swimmers must have YMCA State Championship qualifying times, YMCA Short Course or Long Course time standards or demonstrate the ability to practice at this level. Swimmers must commit to swimming on a year- round basis, and attend all practices and planned competitions (some of them will require travel). Swimmers must try out and be selected for the team. Swimmers will put team focus first and other non-sanctioned YMCA swimming championships second. Senior 1 swimmers will participate in both dual meets and invitational meets and are required to attend all Y Championship meets they have qualified for.  The Senior 1 Group practices 6 times a week. Morning practices are added periodically throughout the season. 

 

SENIOR 3 -Ages 14 - 18 - A program that is designed for the competitive swimmer who may not be ready for the National Program. The program emphasizes physical training as well as stroke technique. Senior 3 program members will compete in the dual meet season, YMCA and USA Swimming invitational events and are required to compete in the highest level championship meets they qualify in.
